Bethlehem Children’s School
One of the recent jobs I’m most proud of is my redesign for the Bethlehem Children’s School.
Their original site was full of tons of great content and a great resource for both existing and prospective parents, however the design was hard to navigate, slow, and very outdated. I was in the very rare position of having nearly total control over the job and so I stepped up to the role as more of an art director than a web designer… A challenge but also very fun. The new site has attracted tons of visitors, new and old, and generated a lot of buzz. We’re still working on filling in more of the content, and now that I’ve seen the WordPress way, I’m planning to convert the site over to a WordPress CMS. But first I have to get it hosted on a decent server. One thing at a time. In the meantime, BCS has a site that reflects the high caliber of their school and attracts more parents (and hopefully, in turn, increases enrollment).
In the words of school academic director Mary Patridge-Brown, “It’s like we’ve been starving for years, and you’ve come along and given us the most delicious food.”

This is the red place…
…for news about redfrau.
I’m starting no less than three blogs this week. This is the kind of insane thing I like to do. I’m living and breathing WordPress right now. Dreaming about it when I can actually sleep.
Count ‘em:
1.) Redfrau | News (you are here);
2.) Rhymes with Wow (stuff I like, stuff that inspires me); and
3.) Vertical29 (the obligatory pretentious designer’s blog, where I’ll attempt to prove that I’m still an artist of sorts and show all sorts of artsy stuff).
So there. Once I’ve got them well underway, I’ll migrate them to their own domain. Or would it be better to do that sooner, rather than later?
Okay. I’m off to get ready to launch the LBG Home Page, fill out a ton of paperwork for a new hopeful contract for SUNY, update another client’s web site, make a proposal for a site for a performance group, and pack for an unexpected trip to Ohio. Mark, Get set, Go.
